What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a broad, general, inclusive fitness program applicable to everyone. All of CrossFit’s workouts are based on functional movements which are the core movements of life, found everywhere and built naturally into our DNA. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, these functional movements at maximum intensity, lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

CrossFit gyms are the polar opposite to the soulless commercial gym’s where your name is just another pound sign on the balance sheet, but a community of friends who train, socialise and support each other. At CrossFit Witham we harness the natural camaraderie, competition and fun of CrossFit to deliver an intensity that cannot be matched by other means.

  • All our classes are suitable for absolutely everyone no matter how old you are, what your background is or how fit you are.
  • Unless otherwise noted, all training offered by CrossFit Witham is performed in a group setting at a pre-determined time (usually every hour).
  • Each group training class offered on a particular day conducts the same workout of the day, or “WOD” – If you miss a morning class, you can pick up an evening class.
  • Classes are lead by a head coach; depending on class size, a second coach may join to help ensure that each athlete is getting the level of instruction they need.
  • Group Training Classes are infinitely scalable according to the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of each athlete.

Structure of a CrossFit Witham Class

Each class at CrossFit Witham will run for an hour and normally involve two workouts (WOD’s).  Before jumping head first into the workouts, your coach will talk you through everything you will be doing and make sure the exercises are scaled to your individual needs.  The first workout will get you moving and focus on the mobility, skills and technical aspects you’ll need to attack the second workout.  The 2nd workout is where the fun really starts and you’ll be thrown different challenges on a daily basis that test you to your limit in every activity imaginable.  The beauty of the workouts we programme is that they are suitable for everyone, no matter how fit you are, and as they are always changing there’s no danger of getting stuck in a rut or getting bored!!  So what are you waiting for…?
